Y’All Are a Royal Priesthood…
It’s time to step up!
The world is in a precarious season with the corona virus spreading throughout the nations. The best of medicine is still clueless, unable to face this onslaught, even as the world is wondering – “who then will deliver us?”
In this season of much suffering and dying all over the world, we need to ask ourselves: Is there a role for us as sons and daughters of the Most High God? Is it not our duty as children of God to stand in the gap and call an end to the death and destruction? The Word of God says that as children of God we alone have the responsibility and ability to take a stand between the dead and living as Aaron did in Numbers 16:46-50.
In 1 Peter 2:5-10, Revelation 1:6 and Revelation 5:10 we see clearly that God has granted us the royal priesthood, the mandate to stand before Him on behalf of the entire world. If there is continued death and dying, could it be because we have been silent for far too long?
The enemy has succeeded in isolating us with fear. and thereby denying us unity, oneness, and the power of God that comes from standing together in united prayer as children of God. As he did with the Goliath strategy, the enemy has caused us to face this giant individually. And each of us aware of our own weaknesses / frailty - compared to the strength of the enemy facing us – in this case Covid - have been running back from the front lines for the past few months, just like the Israelite army did in 1 Samuel 17:24 - fleeing when faced with Goliath.
Tragically, the body of believers has been quietly overwhelmed the last few months through this isolate and destroy strategy of the enemy. For the enemy has convinced all of us that the fight against COVID is about us, and that our life is ultimately in our hands alone. In the Goliath scenario also the entire army fell for it. It took a boy to point out that “the battle belongs to the Lord” in 1 Samuel 17:47.
Just like Goliath taunted the army of the Most High God, we also have seen the global church, pastors, leaders and the faithful taunted by the enemy. We have seen this taunting long enough! We have forgotten that taunting the body of Christ is actually taunting Him! It is in this context that the Holy Spirit is calling those of us, who are disturbed seeing this taunt, to rise up. He is reminding us that this battle is the Lord’s and that He will deliver us from the enemy. We will overcome!
If you, like David, are disturbed about this taunt, then arise! If the Lord has been disturbing you as to why no one has taken a stand yet to fight this giant in His name as David did, then come join Him. We will see His deliverance. “Then the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel”. (1 Samuel 17:46) And that He alone is God!
We all know people around us who are afraid, and we know that you and I alone can intercede on their behalf. We cannot be still; certainly we cannot sit and theologize this season away! You and I have been called - and trained to fight - by our Lord and King Jesus! Like David, each of us has also overcome lions and bears along our journey here. So, step up and join the fight - fight for your family, fight for yourself, fight for all of His people everywhere, remembering that we also fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
Come, let us stand where He has placed us and take our stand against this death and darkness. “Aaron stood between those who had died and those who were still alive, and the plague stopped”. (Numbers 16:48)
We are now called as children of God to run to the altar and bring the censer with incense in it to God, to take our stand between the living and the dead just as Aaron did. We can boldly proclaim to the enemy - “Develop your strategies, but they will not succeed. For God is with us - Immanuel!” (Isaiah 8:10) Remember that no one, and nothing can stand against Him! ‘If God is with us, who can be against us?!’ (Romans 8 :31b) Remember, that nothing is Impossible for Him – yes, nothing!
We need to stand confessing our sins and the sins of our people - even when they don’t confess, we need to confess on their behalf. We cannot as warriors and as soldiers let the world flood our mind with doubt or pessimism or fear. As we stand beside Him, let His Word of Hope fill our minds. Let thanksgiving with worship and His praise alone be on our lips. Many of God’s soldiers are losing their battles, even before they begin their fight. You see, if we let the enemy nibble at our mind, one thought of doubt or fear at a time, soon he will have dismantled even the greatest warrior.
Dear child of God, this is the time to fight, so fight in Jesus’ Name! As David said, “I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.” (1 Samuel 17:45). Our weapon is the Name of Jesus! Nothing has ever prevailed over that Name. He is fighting for His bride, and His intent toward us is good. Know this, that He has not left us, and that He is with us.
Often He calls us to just take our stand, while Jesus fights for us. “You need not fight this battle. Take up your positions, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out and face them tomorrow, for the LORD is with you” (2 Chronicles 20:17)
Will you take your stand? Will you stand in prayer for your loved ones? Then say to the enemy, “thus far and no further”!
Remember He is the God of Breakthroughs. We will see a supernatural redemption, and the enemy will be defeated for God’s Glory! If you follow Him to the battle, you will see the deliverance of God in your life and in the lives of those around you. “so that at the name of Jesus everyone in heaven, on earth, and in the world below will kneel and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10–11)
Amen!
