The Jaya ParaMedical Institute educates young women and men to address the health problems people in South Asia may have because of little or no access to medical care. Enrollment is aimed at students who would otherwise be denied an education due to poverty or societal barriers.
At the end of the 2-year program they earn a government certificate and begin their work in rural villages.
The school opened in July 2010 with only 30 students and within a year enrollment doubled! The first class graduated in April 2012, and now several classes of graduates are serving the poor throughout southern Asia.

This six month program provides free seamstress training for about 50 women annually. The women chosen for the training are the most destitute ones who have no means of support.
At the end of the program they celebrate with a big graduation ceremony. At that time each woman is given her own sewing machine. With this new skill and a new foot powered machine, she is able to start a home-based business. Providing income for their families and working from home empowers these women to break the cycle of poverty!
