At our house we've never been much for making New Year's resolutions. I don't know why; somehow it's just not our thing. But several years ago we discovered that God likes to give New Year's revelations.
For the past several years, my husband Will and I have set aside time around New Year's Day to write down what God has done in our lives over the past year. Because we have been so blessed by these "New Year's revelations" of His love and power, I wanted to encourage you also to take time to look back at how He has worked in your life this year.
After looking back at the year that's ending, we also make a list of areas in our lives where we are currently seeking Him. These become our points of prayer as we enter the new year.
We save this second list, and at the end of the year it is amazing to go back through it and see the very specific ways God has moved to answer our needs. It's also mind-blowing to see how He intervened for us in those unexpected events that we couldn't have known about in advance. But He knew, and He was there to make a way for us.
I wanted to share this with you because it has been such a blessing to us. It's a very simple act; yet it has been a huge source of encouragement and faith-building. If you aren't already doing something like this, give it a try this year!
God always has more He wants to reveal to us, and this is one simple way of opening a door for Him to do it!
