By Faith Abraham Obeyed

From Ghuna Kumar

This week I have been thinking much on the subject of WAITING.  Waiting is one of the most difficult things in some of our lives.   We all want things to happen instantly. God promised Abraham and Sarah a son.  But they had to wait twenty-five years for the fulfillment of the promise.  It is almost one third of the life lived these days. But true faith is able to wait for the fulfillment of God’s purpose in God’s time.

Abraham Obeyed When He Did Not Know Where

Abraham lived in tents because he was a stranger and a pilgrim in the world.  He was always ready to move whenever the Lord spoke.  He had his eyes fixed on God and His voice.  I have been a constant traveler for God from 1971 until today.  My life has been “pack and unpack” in the past forty years but it’s always been fulfilling.  In our faith life it is always fulfilling if we obey God and keep on moving rather than getting settled.

Abraham Obeyed When He Did Not Know How

Abraham and Sarah were truly too old to have children.  But they believed that God would do a miracle.  And God did.  Unbelief always asks, ” How can this be ?” (Luke 1:18,19)  But faith asks, ” How shall this be?”  (Luke 1:34-37)  The ministry vision of Gospel Friends was given on 30th Aug 1992.  We have been trusting the miracles of God day by day in the midst of immense needs and challenges.

Abraham Obeyed When He Did Not Know When

None of the patriarchs saw the complete fulfillment of God’s promises, but they saw from afar off what God was doing. The most important thing is not what we live in but what we look for.  God always fulfills His promises to His believing people either immediately or ultimately.  Many, many prayers and longings of His people were fulfilled even after they  were taken into glory. Let us keep on obeying and trusting for He will fulfill His promises one day or another.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help me to trust and obey You even though I don’t know WHERE, HOW and WHEN You will fulfill Your promises.  Amen.

Praises and Prayer Needs

  • The challenges at Living Hope are quite startling.  We are in need of rooms to accommodate the Bible College students, orphanage boys and the young girls who are in para medical courses.  Kindly pray for this.
  • In our church at Singaperumal koil got the whole concrete roof ruined due to the fire accident and the bursting of a gas cylinder in the thatched (dry coconut leaves) roof of the pastor’s house which was on the top of the church.  Pray for this situation and  for the needs.
  • The Church building near Pallipat is nearing completion.  We will have the dedication on the 4th Aug.  Praise God for this!
  • Pray for one of our college students who gave us enormous troubles in the past week because of undisciplined behavior.
  • Thank God that we found good schools for our Home children.  The Heads of the schools were very much understanding and helpful.
  • Many of those who joined in our center need to get adjusted to our campus culture and food.  Please pray for this need.
  • Praise God for the fervent prayers of our children and young people at Living Hope making a real difference in the midst of all kinds of devices and interruptions used by the evil ones.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS, LOVE AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT

    Dear Pastor Kumar,
I met you at church of the cove in Townsend, TN. I wanted to tell you that though it was a long time ago, when my husband left our family, you prayed with me and told me God had great plans for me and my family. I will always remember that day, because you gave me renewed hope! I waited…and today my husband is home and we are better than ever. Thank you for your encouraging words and prayers!
