Throw a dart, answer a question, win a t-shirt!

A table hosted by Fishhook International at the Ichthus Festival in Wilmore, KY, June 11-13, was the gathering place for a steady stream of teenagers eager to talk about India. They were also excited to try to win a shirt that featured Fishhook’s logo and key Bible verse:  “Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”  The first step to winning the t-shirt was to throw a dart at the dartboard.  Based on the color the dart landed on, a question about India was asked in the area of either religion, geography, government or culture.  The correct answer to the question earned the player a t-shirt.

This year marked the 40th anniversary of the Ichthus Festival which originated as a Christian response to the 1969 Woodstock Festival.  Ichthus 2009 saw about 20,000 youth gathered on the 111 acre Ichthus Farm to worship Jesus Christ, listen to ovver 100 Christian music bands on 7 stages and receive Biblical teaching throughout the weekend.  Hundreds responded to altar calls during the 3 day event.

Further evidence of this generation’s passionate response to the Gospel was seen at the Fishhook table in the ministry tent where teenagers wanted to learn about the largely unreached population of India.  Even after all the shirts were given away,  kids kept coming to play the game and learn about India.  Several said that the Lord has called them to His Kingdom work there.  And they are eagerly pursuing that call to take the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who have never heard about Him.

So be on the lookout for those bright orange tees with Matthew 4:19 and a fish hook on them.  It will remind you to pray for India and for the young people who will be fishers of men and women there.
