More Lessons from Caleb

by Kim Turkington on July 23rd

“Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “ We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” Numbers 13:30

It was quite amazing to know that one of my friends, namely Pastor Mike Motley, also preached on the 11th of this month on the very same text I preached in India.  He was kind enough to send me the outline of his preaching on Caleb.  I was quite blessed by reading it.  So with his permission I am forwarding his outline on Caleb based on Joshua 14.  I am sure you will be blessed also.

1. God keeps His promises.  verses 9,10 - The passage of time does not take away from what God has promised.
2. God can use us regardless of our age.  More »

Wholehearted & Single-Minded

by Kim Turkington on July 14th

“Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.  So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the LORD, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.” (Joshua 14:13-14)

This week the life of Caleb dominated my mind.  I preached about him and learned a good deal from his life.  Please allow me to share what I learned with you.

He Followed the Lord Persistently

The same thing that was said about Caleb when he was forty was also said about him when he was eighty: He wholly followed the Lord.  Pressures and persecution came into his life, but he was a man of consistency and persistence.  More »

God Is Our Refuge

by Kim Turkington on July 6th

At about 2:00 this morning I got up to think of God as our refuge and very present help in trouble.  I am sure the following promises of God will bless your hearts.  I feel someone needed these verses.

God Is Our Strength

“The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; He is their stronghold in time of trouble.” (Psalm 37:39)   Often we might feel weakness in our body and spirit.  I am made strong because of His strength. More »

God Meets Us in Our Need

by Kim Turkington on July 2nd

” Get up, take your mat and go home.”  Matt 9:7

This morning I read the 9th chapter of Matthew and got blessed to know how the Lord deals with our needs just like He dealt with the paralyzed man.

God Deals With Our Emotions First

Jesus told first to the paralyzed man ” to take heart…” (9:2)  Emotional stability is required before we receive any blessings from the Lord.  More »

He Is Lord!

by Kim Turkington on June 10th

“Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.

I was greatly encouraged by reading the first chapter of Jeremiah.  The Lord’s working in our lives is quite marvelous and amazing.

The Lord at the Creation

The Lord knew us even before we were formed in our mother’s womb.  He formed us in our mother’s womb for His own purposes. More »

God’s Grace Abounds

by Kim Turkington on May 26th

“God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”  (2 Corinthians 9:8)

On May 15th at 6.30 am an Air India aircraft crashed while landing at the airport in Mangalore, killing 158 passengers and crew.  This was the 11th major air accident in the country’s air space since 1962 and the first since July 17, 2000.  The trouble reportedly began when the aircraft landed beyond the touchdown zone and overshot the table-top runway with a cliff just beyond. The pilot in command Glucia, a British citizen of Serbian origin, had 10,000 hours of flying experience and had 19 landings at the Mangalore airport.  With all this past history, something went out of his control resulting the death of 158 people which includes 19 children 4 of whom were infants.

Yes, on many occasions I feel my inability to have control or to manage the happenings.  More »

Why Are You Weeping?

by Kim Turkington on April 7th

“ Woman, why are you weeping?” John 20:15

HAPPY EASTER!  The empty tomb of Jesus speaks even today.  God, who emptied the tomb of Jesus, wants to empty three common problems which are in us.

God Wants To Empty Us of Worry

Mary Magdalene was worried about what had happened. Experiences from the past can worry us or scatter our thoughts.  But resurrected Jesus stands before us and assures us of His glorious presence ( John 20:16) More »

The Prayer of Jabez

by Kim Turkington on March 18th

“Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory!  Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.”  And God granted his request. (1 Chron 4:10-11)  Let us pray the prayer of Jabez.

God’s Enhancement - Bless Me

The enhancement of God enriches our spirit.  The blessings of the Lord not only enrich me but will enrich others through me. More »

Glory of the Lord Revealed

by Kim Turkington on February 24th

“THE GLORY OF THE LORD SHALL BE REVEALED ” Isaiah 40:5

This morning I was contemplating how the glory of the Lord can be revealed in our personal and family life.

The Valleys Shall Be Raised Up

The valley of SADNESS should be exalted ( Isa 40:4).  The past sadness or worries need to be buried in the valley so that there shall be a clear way out.  Forgiveness and a willingness to forget the past and people involved is a must for us to progress in our Christian life. More »

Decisions, Decisions

by Ghuna Kumar on February 8th

Nearly all our decisions and deeds affect others, God and / or our own selves.  Consequences are inevitable.  We need to ask ourselves the following questions before we make decisions.  Bad decision lead to a bad future.  So in order to make right and good decisions, we need to get in line with Scripture.
