Partnering with India’s Gospel Servants

Living Hope Theological College

Living Hope provides Bible training to native Indians who go on to become pastors, evangelists, missionaries, and Bible women who can cultivate the Body of Christ.

There was a time in the history of Christian missions when Americans and Europeans were sent to do evangelistic work in India. Now the Church in India can raise up and train native Indians to do that work, which is far more effective because Indians know and understand the culture instinctively. Located on the Mt. Zion campus, Living Hope Theological College offers three years of Bible college training for the B. Th. degree and a two year program for the M. Div. degree. There are about 100 students from all over India including the distant Northeast states; there are also students from Myanmar. Living Hope Theological College is accredited by the Indian Institute of Missiology.

Post secondary Christian education is not widely available in India. In the United States and other Western countries, we tend to take for granted the ready access we have to Christian education. Not so in India. Thus the service provided by Living Hope Theological College is essential for developing trained leaders for the Body of Christ. And of course, it is not just training of the mind they are receiving. They are growing deep spiritually as they mentored by 21 full-time teachers dedicated to the Lord’s service.

Preparing the Way

This part of Gospel Friends’ ministry has a far reaching effect. The graduates of Living Hope go on to become pastors, evangelists, missionaries and Bible women who can lead, train, disciple and mentor others in the Body of Christ. As they follow the Lord’s call into various parts of India, they live out Paul’s admonition to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2: “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” They are taking the training and spiritual mentoring they received at Living Hope to other believers who are then qualified to teach still others.

Beauty for Ashes

by Kim Turkington on December 1st

“I WILL GIVE YOU BEAUTY TO REPLACE YOUR ASHES. ” (Isaiah 61:3)
Recently  when I saw a person i knew, I thought she looked a lot younger.   But someone said that she probably had face work.  But our heavenly Beautician does something for us that is better.  He pours in us inner beauty and decorates us with a garland and a crown of beauty.

No matter what you have gone through in your life, no matter how much your life feels like a heap of ashes, the promise of God is that He will replace the ashes of your life with a crown of beauty.  Let us note some of the experiences of ashes that we go through: More »
