Partnering with India’s Gospel Servants

About Fishhook

We are developing a community to provide spiritual, physical, economic and emotional support for our trusted Indian friends as they share the Gospel.

Our work is unique in several ways:

  • We are working with two Indian partners whom our board and staff have known personally for over 15 years.  We know them, love them and trust them as co-laborers for the Gospel.
  • We believe the Lord has specifically called us to work in India.  It is a land ripe for the hope and love of Jesus.
  • The physical need is huge.  According to the latest World Bank data, 42% of India's people live below the poverty line, defined as $1.25 per day.  Because of some of the traditions and cultural norms in India (caste system, dowry, arranged marriages, etc.)  , women especially suffer in poverty, illiteracy, abuse and neglect.  So the work of our Indian partners is focused largely on women and their children.
  • If the physical need is huge, the spiritual need is perhaps even greater. According to Operation World, India has more and larger people groups with no Christian church or Christian workers than any other country in the world.  The population is overwhelmingly Hindu.  Hinduism involves a constant search for God, yet even the most devout Hindus say they never quite find Him.  So there is incredible spiritual hunger.
  • Saving and changing lives through offering the hope and love of Jesus is the heart of both of our Indian partner ministries.

Through our partners' work in India, lives are saved and changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We See:

  • Thousands of people worshiping in remote villages in New Christian Communities established by bike riding local evangelists who are filled with God's Spirit and equipped to serve.
  • Spiritual, physical, and vocational needs of Orphans, Widows, and other Destitute members of Indian society being met by Christ centered ministries.
  • Young professional leaders in India challenged to be passionate believers who dedicate themselves through education and coaching to build a host of “Market Place Ministers” to transform the people of India.
  • The Poorest Children Educated as Christian leaders who become reproducing members of the body of Christ who support other children following in their footsteps.
  • Westerners Transformed through Indian relationships and cross-cultural experiences.

Throw a dart, answer a question, win a t-shirt!

A table hosted by Fishhook International at the Ichthus Festival in Wilmore, KY, June 11-13, was the gathering place for a steady stream of teenagers eager to talk about India. They were also excited to try to win a shirt that featured Fishhook’s logo and key Bible verse:  “Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”  More »
